NLU Jodhpur Secures Runner-Up Position at Prestigious Ian Fletcher Insolvency Moot

The National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur team achieved an impressive runner-up finish at the esteemed 10th Ian Fletcher International Insolvency Law Moot Court Competition. This prestigious event took place in London on April 17, 2026.

Representing NLU Jodhpur, the team comprised speakers Anshita Tiwari and Sarah Singh, along with researchers Rishi Dev and Thejas Velaga. Their collective efforts propelled them to the finals, where they competed against the University of Chicago.

In this fiercely competitive moot, NLU Jodhpur’s team distinguished itself by being among the top 16 teams globally, out of a total of 47, following the Memorial Qualifier. Notably, Anshita Tiwari earned the accolade of Best Individual Speaker in both the quarter-finals and semi-finals, while Sarah Singh was honored as the Runner-Up Best Individual Speaker in the preliminary rounds. The team also held the distinction of being the Highest Ranked Team in the Preliminary Rounds.

The moot problem presented a fictional scenario set in an imaginary jurisdiction, which had adopted the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-border Insolvency and the UNCITRAL Model Law on Enterprise Group Insolvency. This complex problem required participants to navigate intricate international insolvency laws, testing their critical thinking and research capabilities.

The success of NLU Jodhpur at this international moot underscores the university’s commitment to legal excellence and its ability to nurture talented individuals capable of excelling on global platforms.
