The Central Government has officially reappointed Senior Advocates K Aravind Kamath and B Narsimha Sharma as Additional Solicitors General (ASGs) for the Karnataka and Telangana High Courts, respectively. This decision, announced on September 23, extends their service for a further three-year term starting October 17, 2026, or until new orders are issued, whichever comes earlier.
K Aravind Kamath, a distinguished legal professional, began his journey in law at JSS Law College, Mysuru, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1992. He further advanced his legal education by pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru (NLSIU). His career commenced in 1993 when he was enrolled as an advocate, initially practicing in the City Civil Court, Bengaluru. By the mid-1990s, Kamath shifted his focus primarily to the Karnataka High Court.
In a notable achievement, Kamath was awarded the British Chevening Scholarship by the British Council in 2000, allowing him to gain specialized training in English and European Union commercial and corporate laws. Kamath has also significantly contributed to legal education, having taught for about 12 years and served as guest faculty at MS Ramaiah Law College. His editorial skills were recognized in 2003 when he was appointed Assistant Editor of the Indian Law Reports by the Karnataka High Court. His expertise was further acknowledged when he was designated a Senior Advocate by the Karnataka High Court in November 2018.
Kamath’s reappointment as an Additional Solicitor General will see him continue to represent the Central Government at the Karnataka High Court, a role he first assumed on October 17, 2023.
Concurrently, the Central Government has confirmed the reappointment of B Narsimha Sharma as an ASG for the Telangana High Court. Sharma was elevated to the position of Senior Advocate towards the end of 2022, marking another milestone in his legal career.
The reappointments of both Kamath and Sharma underscore the government’s confidence in their legal acumen and their ability to represent its interests effectively at the state high courts.
