Khaitan & Co Guides Reliance in Partnering with Meta for AI Data Centre in Gujarat

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is collaborating with technology giant Meta to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This strategic partnership involves Reliance constructing a 168-megawatt data facility, which will be leased to Meta for its AI and computing solutions. Legal consultancy for this significant transaction was provided by Khaitan & Co.

The advisory team from Khaitan & Co was spearheaded by Partners Atman Desai, Mudit Shah, and Divya Chaturvedi, supported by Senior Associate Hetashri Khajanchi, and Associates Vivan Jhaveri and Vidhi Patel. Atman Desai expressed on LinkedIn that the law firm was privileged to counsel and work alongside the RIL team on what he described as a “landmark, complex data center transaction.”

This initiative marks a significant step in the partnership between Reliance and Meta, focusing on the development of an AI-driven data centre in Gujarat. The facility is anticipated to fulfill Meta’s expanding AI infrastructure needs within India.

The agreement arrives at a time when the demand for expansive data centre infrastructure is on the rise, fueled by advancements in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services. Moneycontrol highlighted that following the announcement of this alliance with Meta, shares of Reliance Industries experienced an increase of over 2%.
