Jindal Global University Hosts 15th Convocation Ceremony
O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) in Sonipat marked a significant milestone with its 15th Convocation Ceremony, held over two days on July 25 and 26, 2026. The event celebrated the graduation of 5,604 students, including 1,610 from the law school, in a ceremony attended by students, faculty, family members, and distinguished guests from around the world.
University Leadership Highlights Achievements
Prof (Dr) C Raj Kumar, the Founding Vice Chancellor of JGU, opened the ceremony with a welcome address and a comprehensive university report. He highlighted JGU’s commitment to excellence in various domains, including teaching, research, and international collaborations. The university’s growth as a globally recognized institution was a focal point of his presentation.
Chancellor Naveen Jindal’s Inspirational Address
Naveen Jindal, Chancellor of JGU, addressed the graduates with words of encouragement and inspiration. He urged them to carry forward values of integrity, leadership, and nation-building. Jindal emphasized that while India is emerging as a global leader in multiple sectors, the true strength lies in its people. He recalled the vision of his father, Shri O.P. Jindal, emphasizing the importance of quality education, especially for women.
Esteemed Guests Deliver Keynotes
The ceremony was graced by notable figures, including Justice P.S. Narasimha of the Supreme Court, Prof (Dr.) Dawn Freshwater, and Dr. Tarun Khanna, among others. Justice Narasimha celebrated the perseverance of students and their families, highlighting JGU’s role in nurturing talent and promoting nation-building through education. Prof (Dr) Dawn Freshwater urged graduates to reflect on their responsibility in society, while Dr. Tarun Khanna encouraged embracing failure as a part of the learning journey.
Day Two Highlights with Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi
On the second day, Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi commended students for their academic achievements and reminded them of the broader impact of their endeavors on society and justice. He stressed that universities play a crucial role in shaping character and instilling values that go beyond formal education.

Prof (Dr) C Raj Kumar reflected on JGU’s 17-year journey, noting its expansion into a multidisciplinary institution with a global footprint. With faculty and students from over 160 countries and partnerships with leading institutions worldwide, JGU continues to enrich India’s higher education landscape.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, the university’s Registrar, and an introduction of the guests by Prof (Dr) Upasana Mahanta, Dean of Admissions and Outreach.
