The Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) is excited to announce the commencement of its International Law Week 2026, set to take place at the Gandhinagar campus from November 20 to December 5, 2026. This significant event, organized by the Centre for International Law under the School of Criminal Law and Military Law, will focus on the theme ‘International Law, Global Peace and Security.’
Highlights of the International Law Week 2026
A key component of the week will be the Third RRU International Moot Court Competition (RIMC), which runs from November 20 to 22. This competition is open to undergraduate law students from both domestic and international institutions. Furthermore, the event will feature the inaugural RRU Lavad International Law Academy, scheduled from November 22 to December 5, welcoming international practitioners, academics, legal advisers, and selected students.
Vision and Support from RRU Leadership
Under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Bimal N Patel, Vice-Chancellor of RRU, the event aims to enhance the study and research of international law. In line with this vision, scholarships of up to $1,000 will be awarded to the top 12 international teams. These scholarships will cover boarding, lodging, field visits, and partial airfare on a case-by-case basis, encouraging merit and extensive participation without any registration fees.
About the Moot Court Competition
The competition’s proposition is designed to address contemporary issues in International Law and Security, engaging participants with current global challenges. It offers a platform for aspiring legal experts to think critically, analyze complex legal questions, and apply established legal principles to real-world scenarios. The forum aims to prepare students to tackle future legal challenges while adhering to the core principles of International Law, the United Nations Charter, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
Through this competition, RRU seeks to identify future advocates, legal advisers, and judges who will guide governments and adjudicate important matters. Participants will engage with recognized sources of International Law to develop practical and sustainable solutions. The event fosters analytical excellence and a commitment to the rule of law, inspiring a new generation of practitioners and scholars.
Eligibility and Awards
The competition is open to bona fide undergraduate law students enrolled in recognized institutions in India or abroad. Each institution, or its constituent colleges, may send one team to participate.
The winning team will receive a cash prize of ₹75,000/$777 USD and an internship at the RRU Centre for International Law (RCIL). The runners-up will receive ₹50,000/$518 USD and an internship at RCIL. Additionally, awards for Best Speaker and Best Memorial will include a cash prize of ₹30,000/$311 USD.
Scholarship Details
The top 12 international teams will be granted a $1,000 scholarship to promote International Law studies and research globally. Recipients must attend the entire International Law Week, from November 20 to December 5, 2026. The scholarship will be provided as a sustenance fund based on actual needs.
