The Alliance Centre for Corporate and Commercial Law (ACCL) at the Alliance School of Law, Alliance University, Bengaluru, is set to host the 2nd Alliance Model GST Council (AMGSTC 2026) on September 4 and 5, 2026. This esteemed event simulates the operations of the Goods and Services Tax Council, as established by Article 279A of the Indian Constitution.
Focus on Contemporary GST Issues
The upcoming AMGSTC 2026 will delve into pressing issues such as technology-neutral GST rate rationalisation and the input tax credit framework for green mobility. Participants will explore critical aspects of taxation concerning electric and hybrid vehicles, the inverted duty structure, and the challenges surrounding Section 17(5) blocked credit for corporate fleets. These discussions are intensified by the recent GST 2.0 rationalisation implemented in September 2025.
Distinguished Panel and Esteemed Guests
The event will feature a distinguished panel of judges, including respected members from the judiciary, the bar, and the tax profession. The Valedictory Session will be highlighted by the presence of Prabhakaran PM, Judicial Member of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), who will serve as the Chief Guest. Senior legal counsel and practitioners from prominent firms will also contribute their expertise over the two-day event.
Participation Details
The competition invites participation from law students nationwide, organized into delegations consisting of two members—a State Finance Minister and a Principal Secretary. To aid in their preparation, participants will receive a comprehensive Problem Statement, Rules, and Participant’s Guide, ensuring no prior specialization in tax law is required.
Supported by Puliani And Puliani Publications, the event will also feature the launch of a new book on GSTAT by author MG Kodandaram, unveiled by Chief Guest Prabhakaran PM.
