SRM School of Law Forges Strategic Partnerships
The School of Law at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) in Kattankulathur has strategically aligned itself with six prestigious national organizations by signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). These partnerships aim to enhance experiential learning and offer students and faculty members a wealth of opportunities in the fields of legal education, justice delivery, public service, and more.
MoUs Signed During International Conference
The MoUs were officially signed by Prof. (Dr) YRS Murthy, Pro Vice-Chancellor, during the International Conference on Global Criminology and Victimology. According to the press release, these collaborations are designed to foster experiential learning, interdisciplinary research, legal aid initiatives, and professional training.
Key Collaborations with Leading Organizations
Among the most notable agreements is the MoU with Safai Karamchari Andolan (SKA), a national movement led by Ramon Magsaysay Award recipient Bezwada Wilson. This collaboration will focus on academic engagement concerning constitutional rights, social justice, and human dignity, thus allowing students to work closely with grassroots legal and human rights initiatives.
Moreover, the SRM School of Law has partnered with three nationally acclaimed organizations led by Dr. Kalpesh Kumar Gupta: Pro Bono India (PBI), Law Teachers India (LTI), and Legal Startup India (LSI). Each organization brings unique strengths to enrich the legal education ecosystem.
Expanding Horizons in Legal Education
Through Pro Bono India, students will get hands-on experience in community legal services, legal literacy programs, and socio-legal projects, enhancing access to justice. The collaboration with Law Teachers India aims to elevate academic excellence through faculty development programs, research collaborations, and academic networking.

Focus on Interdisciplinary Research and Women’s Empowerment
SRM School of Law has also signed an MoU with ThinkJustice Foundation, a nonprofit committed to interdisciplinary research and evidence-based justice reforms. This partnership will facilitate collaboration across criminology, psychology, and allied disciplines.
Additionally, an MoU with Women Entrepreneurs India will provide female law students with exposure to entrepreneurship and essential business skills.
