The 11th edition of the prestigious HSF Kramer-NLU Delhi International Negotiation Competition (INC) is set to commence today at National Law University (NLU) Delhi. This esteemed event, organized collaboratively by Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer and NLU Delhi, has been a significant fixture in the legal academic calendar since its inception in 2014. The competition will take place from August 21 to 23 at the university’s Sector-14, Dwarka campus.
This year’s competition will see participation from 30 teams hailing from various law schools globally. Each participating university is represented by a team of two students, who will assume the roles of international lawyers. The students are tasked with negotiating complex legal scenarios inspired by real-world issues. A distinguished panel comprising eminent lawyers and academicians will evaluate the participants’ performances in each round.
The structure of the competition includes two preliminary rounds followed by knock-out advanced rounds. The top two teams from these advanced rounds will progress to the final showdown, where they will vie for the championship title.
The event kicks off today at 3 PM with the registration process and penalty appeals concerning the Negotiation Plans for the Preliminary Rounds. This will be followed by the inaugural ceremony, which includes the opening ceremony and a highly anticipated panel discussion titled “Practitioners’ Masterclass on M&A.” Esteemed speakers such as Mark Bardell and Siddhartha Shukla from HSF Kramer, alongside Gunjan Shah from Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., will lead the discussion, sharing invaluable insights into Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) practices.
Following the inaugural events, the preliminary and advanced rounds will continue over the subsequent two days, culminating in the finals and awards ceremony scheduled for August 23. Stay tuned for live updates from the competition as today’s events unfold.
