OP Jindal Global University (JGU) has launched a pioneering Chief Justices of India Museum at its Sonipat campus. This museum is the first of its kind, dedicated to commemorating the lives and contributions of those who have presided over the Supreme Court of India. According to Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, “It is a unique institution, not only in India but, to the best of our knowledge, globally.” He also noted that this new museum complements JGU’s existing Constitution Museum, collectively creating a comprehensive platform to explore India’s constitutional and judicial history.
Celebrating Judicial Leadership and Constitutional Ideals
The museum aims to extend the vision of the Indian Constitution—justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity—by highlighting the Supreme Court’s pivotal role in upholding these principles through its jurisprudence and leadership. The establishment offers a rich tapestry of judicial archives, landmark rulings, personal memorabilia, photographs, multimedia installations, and narratives of judicial fortitude. It is designed to engage scholars, students, and the general public alike, providing insights into the ideas, institutions, and individuals that have shaped India’s constitutional journey.

Each Chief Justice represents a unique phase in the evolution of India’s constitutional democracy. The museum encourages visitors to reflect on the Supreme Court’s past while contemplating the principles that should guide its future. A Hub for Judicial Initiatives and Academic Excellence
The Chief Justices of India Museum is the latest addition to JGU’s array of judiciary-linked projects, attracting numerous senior legal figures to the Sonipat campus. In December 2025, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant inaugurated the world’s largest moot court, Nyayabhyasa Mandapam, on the campus. During JGU’s convocation in July this year, Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi praised the Constitution Museum and the Chief Justices’ Museum as vital institutions that make India’s constitutional history accessible to future generations.
