The Delhi High Court has recently granted bail to a man accused of assaulting his wife within the premises of a court during a hearing related to a matrimonial dispute. The incident allegedly transpired in January 2025, following an argument between the couple at the court. The accused was subsequently apprehended on the same day after his wife filed a complaint leading to an attempt to murder charge.
Initially, the wife had initiated matrimonial proceedings against her husband, which she later chose to withdraw. During a bail hearing for the accused, the wife informed Justice Mini Pushkarna of her intention to not proceed with the criminal case against her husband. She expressed her desire to resume living with her husband and his family, indicating a wish to return to a peaceful matrimonial life.
Justice Mini Pushkarna recorded the wife’s statement and noted, “She, thus, submits that she wishes to resume her matrimonial life in a peaceful manner.” In light of these developments, the State also conveyed that it had no objection to the accused’s bail plea. Consequently, the court permitted his release on bail under specific conditions, as per an order dated September 23.
The court also instructed the investigating officer (IO) to continue monitoring the situation and conduct necessary inquiries should any further complaints arise. Justice Pushkarna stated, “The IO is directed to monitor the situation and, in the event of any complaint being made, to inquire into the same in accordance with law.”
