The Haryana government has officially appointed Senior Advocate Pawan Kumar Mutneja as the new Advocate General for the state. This appointment comes in the wake of the vacancy created by Senior Advocate Pravindra Singh Chauhan’s elevation to an additional judge position at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Chauhan took oath of his new office on Thursday, the same day the state government announced the Governor’s decision to appoint Mutneja, effective immediately.
The official notification from the State Administration of Justice Department read: “In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 165(1) of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Haryana is pleased to appoint Sh. Pawan Kumar Mutneja, Senior Advocate, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, as Advocate General for the State of Haryana with immediate effect.”
Pawan Mutneja brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been in legal practice since 1985. He graduated with a law degree from University Law College, Rajasthan University, and attended the prestigious Lawrence School, Sanawar. His legal acumen was recognized through his previous service as an Additional Advocate General in Haryana from 1996 to 1999, and he was designated as a senior counsel by the High Court in 2021.
Mutneja’s professional portfolio is extensive and diverse. On his LinkedIn profile, he notes his experience in managing significant cases across various domains such as Constitutional Law, Labour and Industrial Law, Civil, Criminal and Company Laws, Land Acquisition cases, Arbitration, Consumer Protection Law, and Service Laws. Over the years, he has represented more than 700 managements in legal proceedings.
