Justice Rao completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Delhi University in 1990, subsequently enrolling as an advocate in March 1991. In 2024, Justice Rao was transferred to the Karnataka High Court, where he further honed his judicial expertise. His leadership skills were recognized when he served as acting Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court in May 2025. Later that year, on July 21, 2025, he was repatriated to the Delhi High Court, continuing his service with distinction.
