Justice Krishna Murari Joins Vantara’s Council
Former Supreme Court Justice Krishna Murari has been appointed to the independent governing council of Vantara, a Reliance Industries-backed animal rescue center located in Jamnagar, Gujarat. His role will focus on overseeing the center’s operations related to conservation, rescue, and compliance.
Vantara’s council, which plays a critical role in steering the organization’s mission to protect wildlife, also includes prominent figures such as John E. Scanlon AO, who assumed the position of Chair in August. Scanlon is known for his previous role as Secretary General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
Justice Murari’s Legal Journey
Justice Murari’s illustrious legal career began with his law studies at Allahabad University. He registered as an advocate on December 23, 1981, and started practicing at the Allahabad High Court. His judicial career took a significant turn when he was appointed as an additional judge at the Allahabad High Court on January 7, 2004, and later became a permanent judge in 2005.
His legal acumen and dedication led to his elevation as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in June 2018. On September 23, 2019, Justice Murari was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of India, where he served until his retirement in July 2023.
