Justice Rajesh Bindal Appointed as Honorary Distinguished Jurist
Justice Rajesh Bindal, who recently served on the Supreme Court of India, has been appointed as the Honorary Distinguished Jurist at the School of Law, Galgotias University. According to an announcement by the university on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Justice Bindal’s association is expected to significantly contribute to the university’s academic and extracurricular activities.
The university expressed enthusiasm about the potential impact of Justice Bindal’s involvement, stating, “His association will enrich student mentorship, masterclasses, moot court initiatives, faculty research, curriculum enrichment, and academia-judiciary collaboration, inspiring future legal professionals rooted in ethics, competence, and social responsibility.”
A Distinguished Judicial Career
Justice Bindal’s judicial career is marked by a series of noteworthy appointments. He began his journey as a judge at the Punjab and Haryana High Court in March 2006. His career saw further elevations when he was transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in 2018. During his tenure there, he served as the Acting Chief Justice from December 2020 to January 2021.
Following his service in Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Bindal was transferred to the Calcutta High Court, where he assumed the role of Chief Justice on April 27, 2021. Later that year, in October 2021, he took on the position of Chief Justice at the Allahabad High Court. His illustrious career culminated with his elevation to the Supreme Court of India in February 2023, where he served until his retirement in April 2026.
