Call for Submissions: Project 39A’s Articles and Blogs Platform

Project 39A, a distinguished criminal justice research and litigation center at the National Law University Delhi, is now accepting submissions for its Articles and Blogs platform. Interested contributors must submit their work by August 30, 2026. This initiative aligns with the ethos of Article 39A of the Indian Constitution, focusing on the intersection of research, academia, legal aid, and reforms in the criminal justice system. The center’s areas of interest include the death penalty, undertrial incarceration, forensics, torture, and mental health.

About National Law University Delhi (NLUD)

Founded in 2008 through the National Law University Act, 2007, NLUD aims to provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education. Project 39A’s platform offers a space for public scholarship, fostering legal debates and informing policy development while encouraging critical engagement with contemporary criminal justice issues.

Submission Guidelines

Eligible Contributors and Themes

Project 39A invites a diverse range of contributors, including lawyers, students, academics, researchers, journalists, and practitioners from related fields, to engage with themes pertinent to the criminal justice system. Topics may cover capital punishment, legal aid, access to justice, custodial violence, mental health, forensics, and other related subjects. Submissions exploring broader or intersecting questions within the criminal justice sphere are also encouraged.

Format Requirements

Submissions should present original arguments backed by legal authorities, empirical evidence, or other credible sources, maintaining high academic integrity. The writing should be accessible, avoiding unnecessary jargon, and explaining technical concepts when necessary. The recommended word count is 800-1500 words for Blogs and 2500-3000 words for Articles, although exceptions may be considered by the editorial team.

Formatting and Author Details

Use Times New Roman font, size 12, single-spaced with 1-inch margins. The title should be descriptive and reflect the essence of the piece. Include a 50-100 word author bio at the document’s end, and submit the body text in an anonymized format, without identifying details. Authors may also provide a headshot for the byline, although this is optional. Co-authorship is permitted for up to two authors.

Submission Process

Submissions must be uploaded via the “Articles & Blog” section of the Project 39A website (https://www.project39a.com). The deadline for submissions is August 30, 2026.
