Project 39A, a pioneering initiative at the National Law University Delhi (NLUD), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Police Foundation (IPF) and the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS). This agreement was formalized during a seminar titled “Disclosure and the Right to Fair Trial: An Expert Dialogue,” held on September 5.
Objective of the Seminar
The seminar, a collaborative effort by Project 39A and IPF, served as a platform for a diverse group of stakeholders, including defense attorneys, law enforcement officials, prosecutors, judges, forensic specialists, and academics. The primary aim was to discuss the critical issue of evidence disclosure in the context of the constitutional right to a fair trial. This dialogue sought to identify existing gaps in the legal system and explore potential avenues for reform.

The recently signed MoU underscores the shared commitment of Project 39A, IPF, and UPSIFS to engage in pro-bono research, enhance capacity-building efforts, provide professional training, and partake in policy development. According to a press release issued at the event, the partnership is set to facilitate joint research initiatives, the creation of publications, and the development of certificate programs.
