The Central government has officially announced the appointment of six advocates as additional judges to the Karnataka High Court, a decision that was communicated by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal through a post on the platform X.
The new appointees, who have been selected following a recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium dated June 2, are as follows: Raghavendra Seetharam Srivatsa, Hema Kulkarni, Subramanya Rangarao, Vivekananda Thadagavadi Prakash, Pramod Bakkeswara, and Shanthi Bhushan Hombe Gowda.
This development marks a significant step in bolstering the judiciary in Karnataka, as the working strength of the High Court will now increase to 54 judges, while the sanctioned strength is 62 judges.
The Supreme Court Collegium plays a pivotal role in the judicial appointments process, ensuring that competent and qualified individuals are selected to serve in the judiciary.
