Advocate Amit Lahoti Appointed to Madhya Pradesh High Court
The Central government has officially appointed Advocate Amit Lahoti as an additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. This significant judicial appointment was announced by the Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, through a social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In accordance with the powers vested by the Constitution of India and after consultations with the Chief Justice of India, the President has approved the appointment of several advocates and judicial officers to various high courts. Amit Lahoti’s appointment was among those confirmed, fulfilling an important role within the judiciary system.
The recommendation for Advocate Lahoti’s appointment was made by the Supreme Court Collegium following a meeting that took place on June 2. The Collegium’s endorsement paves the way for Lahoti to bring his expertise to the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which currently functions with 40 judges. This is against the sanctioned strength of 53 judges, highlighting the importance of filling these roles for effective judicial processes.
The decision to elevate Amit Lahoti to the position of an additional judge underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary and ensure that the courts are adequately staffed to handle the volume of cases efficiently. This appointment is part of a broader initiative to fill vacancies in the judiciary, thereby enhancing the delivery of justice across the country.
