The Kerala government has announced the appointment of Advocate Anoop V Nair as the new State Attorney, a significant position within the state’s legal framework. The announcement was made by Chief Minister V D Satheesan in a press conference held earlier this week. Anoop V Nair steps into the role, succeeding Advocate N Manojkumar.
As the newly appointed State Attorney, Nair is entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating and managing litigation on behalf of the Kerala State government in the Kerala High Court. This role involves close collaboration with the Advocate General’s office to ensure the effective representation of the state in various legal matters.
In addition to Nair’s appointment, the Kerala Cabinet has greenlit the appointment of 40 additional law officers for the Kerala High Court. This includes special government pleaders, senior government pleaders, and government pleaders, enhancing the legal representation available to the state.
Advocate Anoop V Nair, based in Kochi, brings over 23 years of legal experience to his new role. He began his legal career in 2002 and has since developed a robust practice appearing before both the Munsiff-Magistrate Court in Perumbavoor and the Kerala High Court. His comprehensive legal expertise spans civil and criminal law, writ petitions, service law, company law, and proceedings under the SARFAESI Act and the Panchayath Raj framework.
Nair is a founding partner of ASM Attorneys and has served as the Secretary of the Kerala High Court Advocates’ Association in 2024. His professional portfolio includes representing several grama panchayats and autonomous bodies in the High Court, demonstrating his capability in handling complex legal matters.
Notably, Nair has also contributed his expertise as a member of the legal advisor panel for the Guruvayur Devaswom Board, where he played an instrumental role in amending staff service regulations, highlighting his commitment to legal excellence and reform.
