TAS Law has officially declared a merger with ARCAS Law, a practice dedicated to Supreme Court cases founded by Arpit Gupta. This strategic consolidation will take effect on July 1, 2026, marking a significant development in the legal landscape. Gupta, who holds the title of Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court of India, will assume the role of Equity Partner at TAS Law. Meanwhile, Utsav Trivedi will continue to lead the firm as Managing Partner. Post-merger, all operations will be consolidated under the TAS Law brand.
Arpit Gupta brings to the table a specialized practice focused on appellate strategy, drafting, and advocacy in the Supreme Court. As an Advocate-on-Record, he has been actively involved in high-profile environmental cases, including those related to the enforcement of Solid Waste Management Rules and the restoration of river ecosystems. Additionally, he has managed extensive civil and property disputes and frequently collaborates with Senior Advocates on intricate legal issues. Gupta holds an LL.M. from the University of Glasgow, and his team from ARCAS Law will transition with him to TAS Law.
Utsav Trivedi, who co-founded TAS Law in 2019, has successfully established it as a prominent disputes practice. The firm has a presence before the Supreme Court, the Delhi High Court, and various district and High Courts across India. Trivedi, an alumnus of Christ University in Bangalore, has represented the State of Maharashtra before the Supreme Court and serves as empaneled counsel for numerous public sector and government entities. The firm also operates a dedicated pro bono wing, initiated in 2020, to offer legal services to those in need.
Commenting on the merger, Trivedi expressed, “Arpit and I have collaborated extensively, strategizing and working under high-pressure situations. Over time, our work synergy made the merger a natural progression. Arpit’s expertise as an Advocate-on-Record significantly enriches the foundation we have laid at TAS Law.”
Gupta shared his enthusiasm about the merger, stating, “Working closely with Utsav and the TAS Law team on shared mandates has felt more like a reunion than a career shift. I am eager to continue building our practice at TAS Law, with the added advantage of a broader platform to serve our clients.”
