Ex-IAS Officer Seeks FIR Copy from Delhi Court
Former bureaucrat Ashish Joshi has turned to the Patiala House Court in Delhi, requesting a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) filed against him by the Delhi Police. This legal move is set to be reviewed by Judge Mridul Gupta on the upcoming Tuesday.
Joshi, a retired 1992-batch officer of the Indian Posts and Telecommunications Accounts and Finance Service, concluded his distinguished career as an Additional Secretary-rank official in March 2026. The FIR, which has led to this court request, stems from his activities on social media.
Extended Interrogation by Delhi Police
The Delhi Police Special Cell interrogated Joshi for approximately nine hours on September 2. This questioning was part of an investigation linked to the FIR filed against him just two days prior. Allegedly, Joshi was approached during his morning walk and brought to the Counter Intelligence unit’s office located in New Friends Colony. Following the questioning, he was released after his statement was duly recorded.
Legal Representation and Court Filing
Joshi’s plea for obtaining the FIR copy has been submitted through his legal team, comprising advocates Aadil Singh Boparai, Ronit Bose, and Nikunj Bindal. The outcome of this request is anticipated with interest, as it could provide clarity on the allegations against the former high-ranking official.
