The Bombay Bar Association (BBA) has formalized a partnership with the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the Royal Patronage (LCT) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Bangkok on September 5. This historic agreement, signed by BBA President Nitin Thakkar, marks the first institutional collaboration between these prominent legal bodies from India and Thailand.
The MoU is designed to foster closer ties between the Indian and Thai legal communities by facilitating a range of collaborative activities. The partnership aims to:
- Share information on regional legal developments and regulations concerning foreign lawyers.
- Organize joint seminars, facilitate exchange visits, and support cross-publication of members’ scholarly work in legal journals.
- Promote the rule of law and enhance cooperation between legal professionals across different jurisdictions.
In addition to formal agreements, the partnership emphasizes informal engagement through activities such as sports. Both organizations participated in a friendly badminton match held in Bangkok, reflecting their commitment to fostering camaraderie and informal networking.
The BBA delegation for this event included advocates Ayaz Bilawala, Sachin Mandlik, Abhiraj Gandhi, Kiran Desai, Mayur Bhojwani, Ritish Desai, Vatsala Pant, and Aanchal Vaswani.
