Christine Chiramel Departs Rahul Chaudhry & Partners to Launch Chiramel & Co's IP Division

Christine Chiramel has resigned from her position as Partner overseeing Trade Marks at Rahul Chaudhry & Partners to spearhead the Intellectual Property practice at Chiramel & Co Solicitors and Advocates. Established in 1985 under the guidance of Jos Chiramel, Chiramel & Co is a full-service law firm poised for significant growth.

With a robust legal career spanning 17 years, Chiramel has been affiliated with several top-tier intellectual property practices in India. After earning her LL.M. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York in 2009, she practiced at Singh & Singh, Vaish Associates, and Anand & Anand, before joining Rahul Chaudhry & Partners (formerly known as Lall Lahiri & Salhotra). During her decade-long tenure there, she ascended to the role of Partner, leading the Trade Marks division.

At Chiramel & Co, Christine Chiramel will lead the firm’s Intellectual Property practice while driving its expansion into Media & Entertainment, Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Protection, and Corporate Commercial Law.

Reflecting on her new role, Christine Chiramel stated, “Intellectual property has become a pivotal strategic asset, significantly altering the landscape. Artificial Intelligence challenges traditional notions of authorship and data lawfulness, while the DPDP Act of 2023 places personal data at the intersection with rights in databases, content, and branding. As businesses increasingly recognize the importance of IP, they are more proactive in protection and enforcement, viewing their IP portfolios as integral to their enterprise value. Chiramel & Co, with its four-decade foundation and extensive dispute-resolution expertise, provides the perfect platform to capitalize on these evolving IP trends.”

Jos Chiramel, the founder of Chiramel & Co, remarked, “We are thrilled to welcome Christine to our firm. Her addition enables us to formally launch our Intellectual Property practice and expand our full-service capabilities in Brand and Creative Protection, Media & Entertainment, Technology, AI, and Data Protection. Her 17-year depth in IP offers the leadership needed to advance these crucial practice areas.”
