The Supreme Court Collegium has put forth the name of Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra for the esteemed position of Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court. Justice Mohapatra, currently serving as a judge at the Orissa High Court, is set to succeed Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha, who is retiring on September 4. This recommendation was formalized during a Collegium meeting on August 6.
This decision marks a significant step in the judicial appointments process, pending approval from the Central Government. Upon confirmation, Justice Mohapatra will assume his new responsibilities at the Chhattisgarh High Court once Chief Justice Sinha steps down.
Justice Mohapatra’s legal career is distinguished by notable positions such as Additional Standing Counsel for the State of Orissa and the Orissa Public Service Commission. His expertise extends to representing various organizations including Central Cooperative Banks Limited in Keonjhar, the National Institute of Open Schooling under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited, and the Bank of Baroda.
Justice Mohapatra was elevated to the bench of the Orissa High Court on April 17, 2015. Since then, he has contributed significantly to the judicial system, showcasing his legal acumen and dedication.
