Khaitan & Co Guides IRFC in ₹13,527 Crore Refinancing for Hyderabad Metro

Khaitan & Co Facilitates Major Refinancing for Hyderabad Metro Rail Project

The Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC) has approved a significant financial package amounting to ₹13,527 crore to support L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited. This financial aid is primarily aimed at refinancing the existing debt associated with the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project.

In this transaction, Khaitan & Co, a renowned legal firm, served as the legal counsel to IRFC. The firm’s responsibilities included structuring the deal, as well as drafting and finalizing the necessary financing documents. The transaction was spearheaded by Dr. Siddharth Srivastava, a Partner at the firm, along with Abhilash Kumar, a Principal Associate.

The refinancing will cover the existing debt obligations of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, which is instrumental in the development and implementation of a 71.16 km rail system on elevated structures. This system extends from Miyapur to L. B. Nagar, Jubilee Bus Station to Falaknuma, and Nagole to Shilparamam, and operates on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.

This strategic financial move is anticipated to bolster the metro rail infrastructure in Hyderabad, ensuring efficient and sustainable urban transport solutions for the growing city.
