In a notable legal development, a Patna court has granted anticipatory bail to Faisal Khan, commonly recognized as Khan Sir, in connection with a criminal case linked to a firing incident at his coaching institute, Khan Global Studies (KGS). The bail was also extended to three of his staff members: Kanhaiya Kumar Singh, Ajit Kumar, and Ankit Kumar Pandey.
The incident dates back to early June, when violence reportedly erupted at KGS, located in Patna’s Musallahpur Haat area. Allegations suggest that the confrontation involved individuals linked to rival coaching institutes. Reports indicate that a group numbering between 15 and 20 people allegedly attacked the KGS premises, hurling stones and causing significant property damage.
Khan Sir has maintained that the attack was orchestrated by a competitor in Patna’s fiercely competitive examination coaching sector. Following the incident, a complaint was lodged by the manager of KGS, which led to the arrest of the director of a rival coaching institute along with two others for the alleged vandalism.
The situation took a further turn when videos emerged allegedly showing two security guards from KGS discharging licensed firearms outside the institute post-violence. This led to the police filing a separate FIR, citing charges that include attempted murder and violations of the Arms Act.
During their interrogation, the security guards claimed that they were instructed by Khan Sir and other officials to open fire. As a consequence, the FIR was expanded to include Khan Sir and others based on these assertions. However, Khan Sir has consistently refuted these allegations, stating that he never ordered anyone to fire and that the guards acted purely in self-defense when the institute was besieged.
His legal team has characterized the allegations as a deliberate attempt to tarnish Khan Sir’s reputation. The anticipatory bail plea was presented before the Principal District and Sessions Court in Patna, where the judge delivered a decision granting bail to Khan Sir and the three associated staff members.
Meanwhile, investigations continue into both the alleged vandalism and the subsequent firing incident.
