Former NLIU Vice-Chancellor Prof V Vijayakumar Joins Bengaluru School of Law and Justice

The Bengaluru School of Law and Justice (SoLJ) proudly announces the appointment of Prof V Vijayakumar as a Distinguished Professor. With a remarkable career extending over four decades, Prof Vijayakumar has held significant roles such as Professor of Law and Registrar at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, and Vice-Chancellor at both the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, and the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai.

His scholarly expertise spans across Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Human Rights Law, Election Law, and Refugee Law. Furthermore, Prof Vijayakumar has notably held the esteemed United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Chair on Refugee Law. He has also served on numerous academic and governing boards within various universities and public institutions. From 2012 to 2016, he was a pivotal member of the Karnataka State Higher Education Council and has led as President of the Consortium of National Law Universities.

Shruti Vidyasagar, the Academic Dean of SoLJ, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Professor V. As a Distinguished Professor, Prof Vijayakumar will be instrumental in shaping curriculum development, teaching, faculty mentorship, and academic strategy. SoLJ, renowned as a practitioner-led institution, engages closely with leading lawyers, academics, judges, policymakers, and industry leaders to prepare future legal professionals for the evolving demands of the field.
