The legal fraternity mourns the loss of Senior Advocate Phiroze Edulji, who passed away in Kolkata due to age-related health issues. Mr. Edulji, a distinguished member of the Calcutta High Court, began his illustrious legal career in 1997. He was an esteemed alumnus of the National Law School of India University and brought over two decades of rich experience to the Bar.
Throughout his career, Advocate Edulji was renowned for his expertise in handling high-profile cases. Recently, he was involved in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Abhaya case, representing the victim’s family. His advocacy extended to the Supreme Court of India, where he sought justice and relief for the aggrieved family.
Edulji’s legal acumen was also evident in his involvement in other significant cases, such as the Bogtui violence and the Kamduni matters. The Bogtui case, in particular, garnered national attention when the Calcutta High Court ordered the investigation to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), highlighting Edulji’s role in navigating complex legal terrains.
Beyond his legal practice, Phiroze Edulji was an active member of the Orthodox Parsi Zoroastrian community. He made substantial contributions as the President of the Parsi Zoroastrian Association of Kolkata, reflecting his commitment to both his profession and his community.
