The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) has officially inaugurated a new liaison office in Delhi, marking its seventh international outpost and the third within India. This strategic expansion will be under the leadership of Shwetha Bidhuri, SIAC’s Director and Head for South Asia. She will be joined by Devna Arora, Deputy Head for South Asia, and Steffi Mary Punnose, Strategy and Development Manager for South Asia.
According to an SIAC statement, the Delhi office is poised to enhance collaboration with India’s legal and business sectors. It aims to host training sessions, seminars, and outreach activities, while partnering with arbitration experts, corporate counsels, and institutional collaborators. SIAC already maintains a presence in Mumbai and the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).
The Delhi office launch took place on July 25, in conjunction with the SIAC Annual India Conference 2026. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including India’s Chief Justice Surya Kant, Singapore’s Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs Edwin Tong, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Delhi High Court Justice Tejas Karia, and India’s Attorney General R Venkataramani.
Davinder Singh SC, Chairman of SIAC, commented on the significance of this new office. “Indian parties and lawyers have played a crucial role in SIAC’s evolution. They have consistently been among our top users and have significantly contributed as Board directors, Court members, and in various other roles. Establishing the Delhi Liaison Office acknowledges India’s vital role to SIAC and reflects our commitment to serving the Indian legal and business community better,” stated Singh.
Lucy Reed, President of the Court of Arbitration of SIAC, highlighted the importance of Indian users in SIAC’s operations. “Over the past decade, Indian parties have ranked among the top three foreign users of SIAC. This new office facilitates closer engagement with users and stakeholders in India, enhancing their understanding of SIAC’s premier arbitration services,” Reed noted.
