Vidyut Gulati Transitions from Shardul Amarchand to Cairn India

In a notable career move, Vidyut Gulati, a partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas in Delhi, has decided to part ways with the firm to assume the role of General Counsel at Cairn India. This significant transition was initially reported by Bar & Bench, which highlighted her decision to shift to an in-house position. Pallavi Shroff, a senior figure at Shardul Amarchand, remarked, “She is moving in-house and we wish her all the very best.”

Vidyut is set to begin her new role at Cairn India during the last week of December, marking the end of nearly a decade-long tenure at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. Her journey with the firm began in 2006, following a stint at Dua Associates. A graduate of the prestigious Campus Law Centre, Vidyut honed her expertise within the Projects team and ascended to the position of partner in 2012.

Career Highlights and New Beginnings

Throughout her time at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Vidyut Gulati has been instrumental in handling complex legal projects, showcasing her skill and dedication in the legal domain. Her departure to join Cairn India is seen as a strategic step, aligning with her career aspirations and the evolving landscape of corporate legal services.

Vidyut’s move is not an isolated case within the firm; another partner, Anubhuti Agrawal, has also announced her resignation. Anubhuti is set to join Hilton as Counsel for Development and Operations in India. These transitions reflect a broader trend of legal professionals seeking diversified roles within the corporate sector.

The shift of experienced legal professionals from law firms to in-house roles is indicative of the dynamic nature of the legal industry. In-house positions often offer the opportunity for legal experts to engage more directly with business operations, providing strategic insights and driving organizational growth.

For Cairn India, the addition of Vidyut Gulati is expected to strengthen their legal team, bringing in a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective. As companies continue to navigate complex regulatory environments, the role of adept legal counsel remains crucial.
