Sébastien Bonnard Joins Hogan Lovells as Partner in International Arbitration

Sébastien Bonnard has made a significant move by joining Hogan Lovells as a Partner in their International Arbitration practice based in Paris. Known for his impressive international market reputation, Bonnard specializes in commercial arbitration with a notable focus on disputes related to construction, infrastructure, energy, and mining sectors across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. His extensive experience includes serving as both counsel and arbitrator in major proceedings under institutional rules such as ICC, ICSID, LCIA, and LMAA. He is also proudly listed on the prestigious ICC France list of arbitrators.

Bonnard transitions from Hughes Hubbard & Reed, where he held the position of Managing Partner of the Paris office and led the firm’s International Arbitration practice across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Alongside Bonnard, his team, which includes Counsel Sabrina Touchard and Associates Eleni Jacovides and Florence Warsmann, will also be joining Hogan Lovells.

Des Hogan, the Global Head of the Disputes practice group at Hogan Lovells, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Sébastien is a renowned, top-tier arbitration practitioner with an outstanding reputation in commercial and construction disputes. His addition complements other recent strategic hires and promotions within our arbitration team across Asia and further strengthens our disputes practice in Washington, D.C., and London. This strategic hiring positions our Paris team—and our global team at large—to compete at the highest levels for our clients’ most complex mandates. Paris is a pivotal market for us, and the FRIS region (France, Italy, and Spain) is a crucial hub for our firm.”

Xenia Legendre, the Paris Office Managing Partner, added, “We are thrilled to welcome Sébastien and his team to Paris. His arrival underscores the ambition and dynamic momentum of our arbitration practice in France and across the firm. Paris is one of the world’s leading arbitration centers, and alongside our existing talented team, we are well-positioned as a premier platform for top clients.”

Bonnard himself remarked, “Hogan Lovells has developed one of the world’s most compelling international arbitration platforms, which combines premier disputes capabilities, deep sector expertise, and global reach. The strength and momentum of the Paris team, coupled with the firm’s upcoming transformative merger with Cadwalader, makes this an incredibly exciting time to join. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with colleagues in key G20 markets, including New York and London.”
