International Arbitration Expert Gary Born Joins King & Spalding as Partner

Gary Born, a prominent figure in international arbitration, has transitioned from his long-held position at WilmerHale to join King & Spalding as a Partner and Co-Chair of the International Arbitration Group. An alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Born is widely recognized as a preeminent authority in the realms of international commercial arbitration and litigation.

Over his illustrious career spanning nearly four decades, Born has consistently been ranked among the top global practitioners in international arbitration, particularly distinguished as the leading arbitration lawyer in London. His extensive experience includes acting as counsel in over 750 international arbitration cases, encompassing several significant ICC and ad hoc cases. In addition, he has served as an arbitrator in more than 250 institutional and ad hoc proceedings.

Born’s esteemed career also includes significant roles such as serving as President of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Court of Arbitration and Vice-Chairman of the Board of ArbitrateAD. His wide-ranging expertise extends to representing multinational clients from Europe, the United States, Asia, and other regions in arbitrations conducted under major institutional rules such as ICC, LCIA, AAA, Vienna, Stockholm, and ICSID. His practice venues have included leading arbitration seats in cities like London, Paris, Geneva/Zurich, Vienna, Stockholm, New York, Washington, and Singapore.

His practice areas are diverse, covering public international law, state-related disputes, oil and gas, joint ventures, investor-state matters, mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, project finance, energy, intellectual property, and insurance disputes.
