Kochhar & Co has announced the appointment of Saswat Mohanty as a Partner in their Capital Markets and Securities Law division, based in Mumbai. Mohanty, an alumnus of Symbiosis Law School, Pune, graduated in 2014. His expertise lies in equity capital markets, securities law, and providing advisories for listed companies.
Mohanty’s career includes extensive experience in both private practice at top-tier law firms and a significant in-house role at the National Stock Exchange of India. There, he specialized in advising on securities law and regulatory issues pertinent to listed entities. He has played a pivotal role in several intricate capital market transactions such as initial public offerings (IPOs), follow-on offerings, rights issues, qualified institutional placements (QIPs), and preferential issues. His work covers the entire transaction process, from preparing and submitting offer documents to structuring transactions, conducting legal due diligence, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Throughout his career, Mohanty has worked across various sectors, including aerospace and defense, e-commerce, financial services, food and beverage, gems and jewelry, healthcare, information technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing. Before joining Kochhar & Co, he served as a Partner Designate at Luthra and Luthra for over a year.
