High Success Rate in AIBE XXI Following Adjusted Cut-Off Marks
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced the results of the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XXI, revealing a pass rate of 65.92%. The exam took place on June 7, 2026, at 292 centers across 60 cities. A total of 1,75,701 candidates participated, including 1,10,909 men, 64,784 women, and 8 transgender individuals.
Originally, the qualifying marks set by the BCI were 45 for candidates in the general category and 40 for those in the SC/ST/PwD categories. However, the BCI’s monitoring committee, upon reviewing the examination paper and overall results, decided to reduce these cut-offs by 3 marks. Consequently, the new qualifying scores stood at 42 for general category candidates and 37 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
In terms of gender, 42,757 out of the 64,784 women who appeared for the exam successfully qualified. Among men, 73,045 of the 1,10,909 candidates passed, while 3 of the 8 transgender participants also succeeded. Breaking it down by category, 59,709 of the 87,145 general category candidates qualified, which included 344 PwD candidates. Additionally, 36,210 of 58,804 Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates passed, along with 16,462 of 24,127 Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and 3,424 of 5,625 Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
Looking at the state-wise data, Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of candidates, with 13,610 men and 3,178 women appearing for the exam.
The BCI has also announced the schedule for the upcoming AIBE-XXII, which is slated for November 29, 2026. Candidates can begin registering online on August 19, with the registration window closing on October 27. The deadline for online payments is set for October 28, and corrections in the registration form can be made until October 30. Admit cards will be available from November 14, with results expected between January 7 and 10, 2027.
