Advocate Devvrat has emerged as the newly elected President of the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA). In a closely watched contest, Devvrat successfully outpaced his rival, Advocate Shivaji M. Jadhav, in a two-way race for the presidency.
The electoral proceedings also saw Nikhil Jain clinching the position of Vice President, outperforming three other contenders. Similarly, Yugandhara Pawar Jha secured the role of Secretary among a competitive field of four candidates.
The SCAORA election committee efficiently managed the electoral process, with a total of 58 candidates vying for various roles within the association. Importantly, certain positions, namely Secretary, Joint Treasurer, and two Executive Committee spots, were reserved for female candidates. This reservation aligns with directives issued by the Supreme Court on April 13, aiming to ensure gender representation and balance.
The recent elections mark a significant chapter for the SCAORA, reflecting both the vibrant democratic processes within the legal community and adherence to gender-inclusive policies as guided by the apex court.
