The Indian Central Government officially announced the appointment of Judicial Officer Yash Paul Bourney as a judge for the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. This decision follows a recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium, which proposed his name during a deliberation held on September 10.
Yash Paul Bourney, who currently holds the position of District and Sessions Judge at the Super Time Scale, has been a dedicated member of the J&K Special Tribunal in Jammu since November 14, 2025. Born on August 25, 1967, Bourney began his esteemed career in judicial service on December 1, 1997, and has been a part of his current cadre since August 30, 2011.
In an announcement made via X (formerly known as Twitter), Union Minister of Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, confirmed Bourney’s clearance for the role of High Court judge. The appointment marks a significant step in judicial appointments within the region, underscoring the importance of experienced judicial leadership in the courts.
