Popo Global Receives ₹532 Crore Investment from Invus Group

Popo Global Private Limited, a prominent multi-brand restaurant operator based in Bengaluru, has successfully secured a strategic investment of ₹532 crore from Invus Group, represented by Artal Asia Pte. Ltd. The transaction marks Popo Global’s first foray into external institutional capital, valuing the company at approximately ₹1,500 crore.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co provided legal counsel to Popo Global and its founders, Nikhil Gupta and Abhijit Gupta. The advisory team was spearheaded by Navruz Vakil, a partner at the firm, with key support from Consultant Alena Nari Advani, Senior Associate Daksh Hemnani, and Associate Vidhi Shah.

In addition, Popo Global and its founders received advice from Argus Partners, further solidifying the legal framework of the transaction. On the other hand, TT&A represented Artal Asia Pte. Ltd., with Invus acting as the global investment advisor. The TT&A team comprised Partners Gautam Saha, Sachin Mehta, and Harshit Chandra, alongside Managing Associate Sinjini Majumdar, Senior Associate Kashish Singhal, and Associates Sangita Sharma and Vedangshri Vijay.

Popo Global’s Growth Trajectory

Since its inception in 2017, Popo Global has expanded its operations significantly, growing from a single Pizza Bakery outlet to approximately 40 outlets under three distinct brands: The Pizza Bakery, Paris Panini, and Smash Guys. This impressive growth trajectory has been achieved primarily through bootstrapped operations until now.

The strategic investment from Invus Group is set to bolster Popo Global’s expansion plans, providing the necessary capital to scale its portfolio of unique food and beverage brands. This development aligns with the company’s vision of capitalizing on India’s rapidly organizing and premium-izing restaurant industry.

Future Prospects

The infusion of capital is expected to facilitate Popo Global’s continued expansion, allowing the company to reinforce its presence in the market and explore new growth opportunities. The investment underscores the increasing interest in India’s food and beverage sector, particularly in premium and organized dining experiences.
