Lucio AI Partners with NUS Law to Integrate Legal AI into Curriculum
Lucio AI has officially partnered with the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Law (NUS Law) to introduce legal-specific artificial intelligence directly to students and faculty members. This collaboration aims to ensure that graduates are not encountering professional legal AI for the first time when they enter the workforce. By incorporating Lucio into the academic and research settings, NUS Law is enabling students to learn how to effectively utilize these tools, recognize their limits, and apply them responsibly.
The Lucio Assistant will empower students to expedite their research, draft more efficiently, and convert complex legal materials into organized and practical outputs. This effectively prepares students for the modern legal workplace, where such technologies are commonplace. For faculty members, the platform not only opens up new avenues for research but also provides insights into how students interact with AI during their studies. The integration and training for this AI platform will be managed by NUS Libraries, which will incorporate it into their existing information literacy programs.
Professor Andrew Simester, Dean of NUS Law, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Providing students with access to AI tools is not about replacing the essential skills and judgment central to legal education. It is about ensuring our students understand how to utilize these tools and critically evaluate their outputs. We are deeply appreciative of Lucio’s support in this effort.”
Vasu Aggarwal, Co-Founder of Lucio AI, added, “NUS graduates will be entering a legal profession already influenced by AI. Our goal with this partnership is to ensure they are prepared. We aim to equip them with the skills to use AI effectively, challenge its results intelligently, and produce defensible work from day one.”
Darsan Guruvayurappan, another Co-Founder of Lucio AI, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “NUS is among the world’s top law schools, and we are thrilled to partner with an institution that sets the standard for legal education. Our objective is straightforward: when NUS graduates begin their careers, they should be familiar with the tools, understand the best practices in legal AI, and contribute immediately without a steep learning curve.”
