UPES Appoints Prof. Nawneet Vibhaw as Head of School of Law

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has announced the appointment of Prof. Nawneet Vibhaw as the new head of its School of Law. With an extensive legal background spanning over 18 years, Prof. Vibhaw is recognized for his expertise in environmental law, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria, climate policy, and sustainability.

Prof. Vibhaw is an alumnus of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law, Hyderabad, where he earned his B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) degree. He further advanced his legal education at Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon, USA, obtaining an LL.M. in Environment, Energy, and Climate Change.

In his professional journey, Prof. Vibhaw has been associated with prominent Indian law firms such as Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. and Khaitan & Co. His academic contributions include teaching roles at respected institutions like National Law University Delhi (NLUD) and Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), Sonipat.

Throughout his career, Prof. Vibhaw has been honored with several fellowships and accolades from prestigious organizations, including the Belgian Science and Policy Office (BELSPO), the UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI), the Robert Bosch Foundation, the Asian Development Bank, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).

Upon his appointment, Prof. Vibhaw expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm, stating, “I am honored and grateful to UPES for entrusting me with the responsibility to lead its law school. I look forward to utilizing my experience in legal practice and academia at distinguished institutions to aid the School of Law at UPES in providing quality legal education.
