Supreme Court Requests Health Evaluation for Asaram Bapu’s Bail Plea
The Supreme Court has requested the Rajasthan government to thoroughly assess the health condition of Asaram Bapu, who has sought interim bail on medical grounds. During a recent hearing, the State represented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, informed the Bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and PB Varale that Asaram appeared to be in good health. It was noted that he had traveled to Ayodhya and Kashi just three months prior, demonstrating his physical capability. Nevertheless, the State agreed to reassess his condition and provide the court with further instructions by July 21.

The plea for interim bail arose as Asaram awaits an appeal verdict against the Rajasthan High Court’s decision which upheld his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor in Jodhpur.
