Scott Tan Joins Rajah & Tann Singapore as International Arbitration Partner

Rajah & Tann Singapore has bolstered its International Arbitration practice with the appointment of Scott Tan as a Partner. Tan brings a wealth of experience in public international law, having represented Singapore in numerous critical bilateral and multilateral trade, investment, and diplomatic discussions. Notably, his contributions include the 2023 upgrade of the China–Singapore Free Trade Agreement and the 2025 signing of the EFTA–Singapore Digital Economy Agreement. He also served as a delegate at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Tan’s legal expertise spans a broad spectrum, covering international trade and investment law, the law of the sea, sovereign immunity, state responsibility, and the law of armed conflict. Prior to joining Rajah & Tann, he led the International Disputes Practice Group as Director within the International Affairs Division of Singapore’s Attorney-General’s Chambers.

His distinguished career in the Singapore Legal Service includes roles such as Special Assistant to Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon, Assistant Registrar/District Judge, Justices’ Law Clerk, and Deputy Public Prosecutor. His multifaceted experience is expected to significantly enhance Rajah & Tann Singapore’s capabilities, particularly in managing complex cross-border legal matters that involve intricate legal, commercial, and policy dynamics.
