Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Mumbai, has entered into a strategic partnership with NITI Aayog through a signed Statement of Intent (SoI), aiming to spearhead significant legal reforms and policy advancements in India. This collaboration is designed to merge academic research with national policy-making efforts.
According to a press release, this initiative reflects the visionary leadership and unwavering dedication of MNLU Mumbai’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey. “Together, we are committed to fostering cutting-edge research, policy innovation, and institutional reforms to help shape the vision of a developed India,” the statement reads.
Key Focus Areas
The partnership will concentrate on using academic insights to generate actionable policy advice in several critical and emerging sectors:
- Technology & Ethics: Addressing AI & Legal Ethics, Data Privacy, and Cybersecurity.
- Social Justice & Empowerment: Focus on Women’s Rights, Workplace Harassment Prevention, POCSO cases, Acid Attack Victim Support, and Tribal Rights.
- Modernizing Justice: Initiatives in Online Dispute Resolution (ODR), Judicial Reforms, Criminal Law, and Juvenile Justice.
- Sustainability: Emphasis on Environmental Law and Climate Change Litigation.
This collaboration aims to integrate global best practices into India’s legal framework by engaging in joint research, high-level consultations with stakeholders, policy briefings, and capacity-building programs.
