Petition Seeks Urgent Medical Intervention for Sonam Wangchuk
A public interest litigation (PIL) has been submitted to the Delhi High Court, requesting immediate action to provide medical assistance to renowned activist Sonam Wangchuk. Currently engaged in a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, Wangchuk is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing concerns over alleged question paper leaks and various irregularities within the educational system.
The PIL, filed by activist lawyer Rakesh Kumar Saini, underscores the urgent need for the Central and Delhi governments to intervene. Specifically, the petition calls for Wangchuk to be transported to a medical facility and receive nourishment, even if it necessitates force-feeding.
According to the petition, Wangchuk’s health is rapidly declining, and the situation demands immediate attention to prevent any tragic outcomes. The petition emphasizes that should Wangchuk’s condition worsen, it would reflect poorly on the country, potentially attracting international disapprobation.
This case is currently evolving, and further developments are anticipated as the situation progresses.
