Pappu Yadav, an Independent Member of Parliament representing Bihar’s Purnia, has petitioned the Delhi High Court to seek enhanced security measures across India. This urgent plea follows threats he reportedly received after performing a skit highlighting alleged irregularities in the Ram Mandir donations. The case is set for hearing on August 11 before Justice Manoj Jain.

Yadav claims that his life has been at risk since his controversial skit outside the Parliament, which aimed to expose discrepancies in the Ram Temple donation process. On August 2, 2026, an alarming incident occurred at his Delhi residence during a press conference, where an individual allegedly attempted to attack Yadav with a slipper and was reportedly armed with a knife.
Details of the Threats and Attack
In his petition, Yadav, who currently benefits from a ‘Y+’ security detail in Bihar, has called for a comprehensive reassessment of the threats against him and interim security measures throughout India. He emphasized that his security concerns intensified following the skit. The plea outlines that on August 1, threats were made against him, including a public offer of ₹51 lakh for his beheading. Furthermore, a mob allegedly gathered outside his wife’s residence, who is also an MP, threatening his life.
Legal Response and Petition Details
According to the petition, Yadav lodged a formal complaint with the Delhi Police on August 2, backing it with electronic evidence of the threats. That same day, while he was addressing the press at his residence, he faced an attempted attack. Yadav’s plea accuses the Ministry of Home Affairs of failing to conduct a new threat assessment or to act on his request for nationwide security coverage. The petition argues that this inaction violates Article 21 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to life and personal liberty.
The legal petition has been filed with the assistance of Advocates Kanishk Arora, Shakshi Goyal, and Ishtpreet Singh, who are representing Yadav’s case in court.
