In a significant development for the legal industry, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has announced the departure of four of its partners, including Senior Partner Ravindra Bandhakavi, alongside Amarta Roy, Poornima Singh, and Srabanee Ghosh. According to multiple reliable sources, these partners are currently in discussions with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and are anticipated to transition to the firm soon.
Responding to inquiries, Cyril Shroff, the Managing Partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, confirmed the impending exits. “This was in the works for a while. It’s a friendly exit. They will serve the notice period till November. We wish them all success,” Shroff commented, emphasizing the amicable nature of the departures.
Ravindra Bandhakavi: A Veteran in M&A and Private Equity
Ravindra Bandhakavi, a prominent figure in the legal domain, is a 1999 graduate of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru. With over 25 years of experience, Bandhakavi has been instrumental in advising on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, working with leading private equity firms and multilateral organizations. His expertise ranges across various sectors, including renewables, infrastructure, financial services, e-commerce, real estate, and manufacturing.
Before his seven-year tenure at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Bandhakavi had two stints totaling a decade at the former Amarchand Mangaldas and served as a partner at Trilegal. His departure marks a significant shift for CAM.
The Accomplished Trio: Amarta Roy, Poornima Singh, and Srabanee Ghosh
Amarta Roy, an NLSIU alumnus from 2007, brings over 13 years of experience in private equity, joint ventures, financing, exits, demergers, and general corporate advisory. Throughout his career, Roy has advised both domestic and international clients and has worked with some of India’s largest business conglomerates on restructuring and overseas investments.

Poornima Singh, a 2016 graduate from Gujarat National Law University, holds over nine years of experience assisting prominent private equity and financial investors with their equity investments in India. Her specialization includes deal structuring, entry and exit strategies, and portfolio management, covering sectors like renewables, infrastructure, and real estate. Singh has been with CAM for seven years.
Srabanee Ghosh, who graduated in 2014 from Hidayatullah National Law University, has over nine years of experience advising private equity funds and development finance institutions. Her expertise extends to equity investments, exits, and business and asset transfers in the pharmaceutical sector. Ghosh has also been a part of CAM for seven years.
