On July 19, National Law University Delhi (NLUD) held its Student Induction Programme, Deeksharambh 2026, welcoming the 19th cohort of its B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme. The event took place at the University Auditorium, where students were greeted by Vice Chancellor Prof. GS Bajpai, alongside other university leaders and faculty members.
The ceremony began with traditional customs, including the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and the national anthem. Prof. GS Bajpai then delivered a warm welcome address, setting the tone for the day’s events.
The university was honored to host eminent dignitaries, including Justice Rajendra Menon, Chairperson of the Armed Forces Tribunal and former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, who attended as the Guest of Honour. Justice Menon shared his thoughts and experiences, offering valuable guidance to the fresh batch of students.
Justice MM Sundresh of the Supreme Court graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, Justice Sundresh imparted wisdom on the intricacies of law, the essence of justice, and the professional responsibilities that await the young legal minds.
As a highlight of the programme, the All India Rank 1 holder of AILET 2026 received a scholarship in recognition of their outstanding achievement. Several other students were also recognized for their exceptional academic performances and successful admission to NLUD.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. Risham Garg, Registrar at NLU Delhi. Following the ceremony, students participated in orientation sessions designed to introduce them to university policies and academic structures.
Faculty members conducted informative sessions covering various topics. Prof. Anju Tyagi provided an overview of the academic programmes and regulations, while Prof. Ritu Sharma discussed examination rules. Prof. Niraj Kumar explained hostel regulations, and Prof. Maheshwar Singh briefed students on the Nasha Mukti Abhiyaan and Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD).
According to a press release, Deeksharambh 2026 aimed to acquaint students with the academic ethos, institutional framework, and community life at NLU Delhi, embarking them on a transformative and intellectually stimulating journey.
