Delhi High Court Intervenes in Defamation Case Against Kushal Singh
The Delhi High Court has mandated the removal of certain social media content accusing prominent Indian basketball player, Kushal Singh, of sexual misconduct. This directive was issued by Justice Sachin Datta on Friday, in response to a defamation lawsuit filed by Singh. The lawsuit targets posts, stories, and reels published by Singaporean content creator Muskaan Tiwari on Instagram.
Details of the Court’s Directive
Justice Datta’s interim order requires Tiwari to immediately delete all flagged Instagram content that falsely accuses Singh of acts such as sexual harassment and predatory behavior. The court emphasized that if Tiwari fails to comply, Singh may seek enforcement from the relevant social media platform, which is obligated to ensure the court’s order is followed.
In the court’s words, “Considering the circumstances, defendant no.1 (Tiwari) is directed to forthwith take down and remove all defamatory Instagram posts, reels, story highlights, captions, comments, and other related published content pertaining to the plaintiff (Singh) on her Instagram handle or any other account operated or controlled by her…”
Background and Further Proceedings
The court’s decision came after Singh alleged that Tiwari was orchestrating a prolonged social media campaign against him, replete with false accusations. These posts reportedly attracted thousands of views and encouraged followers to engage basketball agencies with the allegations.
Singh, who plays for the senior Indian national basketball team and has participated in international competitions like the FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship in 2022, contends that Tiwari started this defamatory campaign in July 2026.

The court has also called for Tiwari’s response to the defamation suit, requiring all defendants to submit their written statements within 30 days of receiving summons. The case is scheduled for a procedural review by the Joint Registrar on September 17, with the next hearing set for January 13, 2027.
