Tapan Chauhan has embarked on a new professional journey by joining Amazon as the Director of Legal and Associate General Counsel. A distinguished alumnus of Himachal Pradesh University, Chauhan brings nearly 20 years of extensive experience in both litigation and corporate legal advisory roles.
His legal acumen spans a variety of sectors, with a significant focus on the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry. Chauhan’s expertise is particularly notable in Litigation and Dispute Resolution, where he has demonstrated proficiency in handling complex legal issues, both domestically and internationally, including arbitration cases.
Chauhan is adept in navigating the intricate legal frameworks governing the FMCG sector, with specialized knowledge in Food, Labor, and Excise laws, particularly in the alcoholic beverages segment. His skills further extend to Corporate Governance, where he has excelled in designing compliance programs, conducting audits, and providing training on critical regulations such as Anti-Bribery and Competition Law.
In his new role at Amazon, Chauhan will leverage his comprehensive experience to oversee regulatory compliance and manage legal risks on a global scale. His strategic insight is expected to be instrumental in enhancing Amazon’s legal strategies and operations.
Before his current appointment, Chauhan spent over eight years at Pernod Ricard India, where he contributed significantly to the legal department. His career trajectory also includes valuable tenures at prominent corporations like Nestlé and Mondelēz International, where he honed his skills in corporate law and governance.
