The Karnataka High Court has taken decisive action by reassigning Principal Civil Judge and JMFC Gayatri from Malur to Humnabad, following her involvement in a road rage incident captured on CCTV. This administrative decision was communicated through a notification issued by Registrar General M Chandrashekar Reddy on August 5. The reassignment is attributed to administrative necessities and aims to uphold the integrity of public service.
The sequence of events leading to this decision began with a directive from the Karnataka High Court on July 28. The court, under the guidance of Justice M Nagaprasanna, examined CCTV evidence and determined that Judge Gayatri had engaged in a confrontation with two motorcyclists who allegedly overtook her vehicle. The judge had reportedly used her position to initiate criminal proceedings against these individuals.
In its order dated July 28, the High Court expressed strong disapproval of the judge’s actions, highlighting that her behavior was inconsistent with the dignified conduct expected from someone in her position. The court emphasized, “The video now circulated on social media clearly indicates that the judicial officer behaved in a manner totally unbecoming of the office she holds.” As a result, the High Court halted further investigation into the criminal case against the motorcyclists and requested that the judge’s conduct be brought to the attention of the Chief Justice for further action.
This administrative reassignment of Judge Gayatri to Humnabad represents the court’s commitment to maintaining judicial decorum and ensuring accountability among judicial officers.
