The ICC India Arbitration Group, in close collaboration with the ICC International Court of Arbitration and its Secretariat, has announced the appointment of Sameer Jain as Chair and Aanchal Basur as Vice Chair, starting September 1, 2026. Sameer Jain, who serves as the Managing Partner at PSL Advocates & Solicitors, and Aanchal Basur, a Partner at AB Law, both bring extensive experience in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to their new roles.
Leadership Transition in ICC India Arbitration Group
The transition comes as Sameer Jain takes over from Shashank Garg, under whose tenure the Group significantly expanded its interactions with various stakeholders in the arbitration community, including practitioners, in-house counsel, and students. Sameer Jain’s impressive background includes serving as a member of the IAG’s core committee, and he is highly regarded for his expertise in handling commercial disputes, international arbitration, and intricate cross-border matters over his 18-year career. His clientele spans both Indian and international sectors, including state-owned enterprises.
Expressing his gratitude, Jain stated, “I am honored to take on this role and grateful for the trust placed in me by ICC India and the ICC Court. The ICC India Arbitration Group has played an important role in deepening engagement with the arbitration community in India, and I look forward to working with Aanchal and the wider Group to build on that momentum, expand dialogue across stakeholders, and further strengthen awareness of ICC arbitration and ADR services.”
Aanchal Basur’s Role and Vision
Aanchal Basur, with her rich experience in international arbitration across various sectors such as energy, healthcare, hospitality, and manufacturing, also shares a commitment to fostering growth within the arbitration community. Her practice involves representing Indian and international clients in arbitrations seated both domestically and internationally. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
On her appointment, Basur remarked, “I am delighted to support the ICC India Arbitration Group in this new capacity. ICC has long provided an important forum for practitioners, users, academics, and young professionals to exchange ideas and engage with international best practices. I look forward to working with Sameer and the Group to continue fostering inclusive conversations and meaningful opportunities for collaboration within India’s arbitration and ADR community.”
